Good Fit
Given the large commitment of time, energy and money you are about to invest, you want to make sure you select a therapist who's right for you.

Although credentials, training, experience and methodology are important, research shows that by far the most important factor in selecting the right therapist is “fit.” So stop taking notes and put down your clipboard: you want a therapist you can feel comfortable with.

While it would seem easier to choose a therapist based upon some formula or set of criteria, this would be reductive and misleading. Instead, look for someone with whom you can develop a communicative, trustworthy rapport. Do you feel at ease while talking with them? Do they seem genuinely interested in you? Can you see yourself trusting them? Do you feel a strong connection? These are the questions that should drive your decision.
